It took a good half hour sitting in the office with my thumb hovering over the 'talk' button on the phone but I finally managed to place the call. We got instantly disconnected. I waited a few minutes before trying again ... bad connection, nothing accomplished. So I tried not to think about it and decided I would wait until after dinner to try again. I let the imagination run wild ... not always a good thing ... and ended up all worked up wondering why I couldn't bring myself to even call him. How could I expect him to see me in person if I can't even manage a 5 minute phone conversation?
Jen worked her magic with a romantic candle lite dinner and an honest heart to heart chat ... I called once again after dinner. This time I decided the hell with the cell number I'd see if he was at home. His wife answered ... turned out he had crappy cell service cause he was rock climbing out of state ... hope he didn't answer his cell WHILE rock climbing. Though it does sound like something he would do. Anyway she'll leave him a note that I called and hopefully he'll get back with me tomorrow.
I finally managed to take that huge step toward an actual friendship again. Huge weight lifted ... now I just need to actually talk to him. I have a few questions only he can answer and I'm curious what he's been up to the last 12 years.
